SAN FRANCISCO, April 20 (UPI) -- The timetable for slugger Barry Bonds return to the San Francisco Giants' lineup remains uncertain.
Bonds has had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee twice this year, Jan. 31 and March 17.
The 40-year-old outfielder has not responded to rehabilitation as well as the Giants had hoped, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday.
The team has had little to say about Bonds' condition. The newspaper said Manager Felipe Alou had this comment Tuesday:
"After the second surgery, me and the team in general, we knew it was going to be awhile. We can't wait for him. We've got to allow the process of healing and the complete rehabilitation to take place. Right now, we've played 12 games and we know Barry is not going to be here tomorrow. Right now he's out of our scope."
