NBA: Phoenix 98, LA Clippers 91

PHOENIX, April 15 (UPI) -- Jim Jackson put Phoenix in front with 3:03 to play Friday night and the Suns shut down Los Angeles down the stretch to defeat the Clippers, 98-91.

The Clippers' Chris Kaman tied the game at 91-91 with 4:30 to play and Los Angeles did not score another point.

After Jackson hit a three-pointer with 3:03 left, the Clippers suffered two turnovers and two missed shots before Steve Nash hit two free throws with 18 seconds remaining.

Amare Stoudamire led the Suns with 24 points while Shawn Marion and Joe Johnson both had 20.

Elton Brand paced the Clippers with 22.

Phoenix moved two full games in front of San Antonio for the best record in the Western Conference with three games to play.
