Fenway Park adds luxury seats

BOSTON, April 16 (UPI) -- Boston Red Sox executives plan to add more than 1,000 high-priced premium seats to Fenway Park over a three-year period.

The top seats will cost $275 in the newly-renamed EMC Club, sponsored by the Massachusetts firm EMC Corp., reported the Boston Globe Saturday.

The open-air seats will replace part of the .406 Club, a glassed-in luxury seating area named after Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams.

The Red Sox also plan to provide new "concierge" services to EMC Club members for road games and other sporting events.

"This is an opportunity to create some areas that will be state of the art when compared to other sports facilities around the country," said Sam Kennedy, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Red Sox. "Fans have not seen the likes of these kinds of areas ever before at Fenway Park."

In total, the Red Sox plan to add 2,800 new seats and standing room places by 2008.
