COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 15 (UPI) -- Edson Buddle scored in the 26th minute Friday night to give Columbus a 1-0 victory over D.C. United

It was the third goal of the season for Buddle, who took a pass from Simon Elliott and scored from inside the six-yard line.

Freddy Adu made his first start of the season for United and played the entire contest.

Columbus advanced to 2-1 in the young season while United is 1-1-1.
