Flyers' LeClair to have back surgery again

PHILADELPHIA, April 13 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Flyers left wing John LeClair, who has undergone two back operations, is going to have another one, it was reported Wednesday.

"The surgery is an option, and it's something that I want to be beneficial," LeClair told The Philadelphia Inquirer.

"If I can do something that improves me and strengthens me, then I want to do it very quietly and just move on. My goal is be ready to play in September."

LeClair, 35, who has been bothered by back and shoulder problems the past few years, said the surgery will be scheduled in New York.

The NHL canceled its current season because of a labor dispute. If the league resumes play next season, LeClair will have one year left on his contract with the Flyers.

LeClair has 382 goals and 379 assists in 873 NHL games.
