Morgan Pressel upstaged fellow-amateur Michelle Wie by completing 36 holes at 143. Wie slipped to a 74 at the Mission Hills Dinah Shore Championship Course and stood at 144.

Sorenstam is trying for her fifth consecutive victory, which would tie the all-time LPGA record owned by Nancy Lopez.

Jones is seeking her first major championship in what is expected to be her final full season on the tour. She birdied the par-5 18th late in the day to tie Sorenstam at the midway point.
