WICHITA, Kan., March 19 (UPI) -- Jamar Howard scored 22 points Saturday night to lead Wichita State to an 84-81 win over Western Kentucky in the first round of the NIT.

Paul Miller added 18 points for the Shockers (22-9), who will meet Vanderbilt in the second round.

Anthony Winchester led the losing Hilltoppers (22-9) with 25 points and seven rebounds.
