Auburn extends Tuberville's contract

AUBURN, Ala., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Auburn Coach Tommy Tuberville signed a seven-year contract extension Thursday -- one that will pay him at least $2 million a season.

The Tigers went 13-0 during 2004, but was unable to gain a berth in the national championship game. Auburn downed Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

"I truly believe that this is the best coaching job in America," Tuberville said. "From the fan support, to the community, to the support of the administration, all the resources are in place to consistently win championships. I am looking forward to many more successful seasons at Auburn."

Tuberville will earn additional money for winning 10 in a season, going unbeaten, playing in the SEC title game, winning the SEC championship and winning a national championship.
