COL BKB: North Carolina 81, Florida St 60

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- The second-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels pulled away in the second half Sunday enroute to an 81-60 ACC victory over Florida State.

The Tar Heels used a balanced attack led by Rashad McCants with 16 points.

The Tar Heels (19-2, 8-1 ACC) won their fifth game in a row.

Von Wafer and Anthony Richardson led the Sminoles' scoring with 14 and 13 points.

Florida State (11-11, 3-6) fell to 8-5 at home this season.

North Carolina had a 14-point lead in the first half but the Seminoles scored the final nine points of the half and trailed only 38-29.

Florida State trailed 49-48 after four consecutive three-pointers early in the second half. But ahead 57-52 with 11:55 to go, the Tar Heels went on a 17-2 run.

Florida State went 7 1/2 minutes without a field goal during the Carolina surge.
