TORONTO, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- The Toronto Blue Jays announced Wednesday that the name of the team's stadium has been changed from SkyDome to the Rogers Centre.

The team and stadium are owned by Rogers Communications Inc.

Ted Rogers, the company CEO, said stadium improvements are planned, including a new scoreboard and artificial playing field.

The 16-year-old domed stadium has a seating capacity of more than 50,000.

Rogers also announced that the team payroll will be substantially increased during the next three years.

"We're thrilled to show our support for the team and management," Rogers said.
