PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Justin Leonard shot a five-under 67 Sunday to win the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic by three strokes.
Leonard finished 90-hole tournament rathon event at 28-under-par 332. Tim Clark and Joe Ogilvie shared second at 335.
Loren Roberts had a 69 to tie Peter Lonard for fourth at 336. John Senden and Tim Herron were at 337.
Leonard, a 32-year-old Texan, was three shots behind Ogilvie going into the fifth and final round.
"When you're coming from behind there's not a whole lot of room for error," said Leonard. "You have to hit good shots, you have to do those things and play aggressively."
Former U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk shot a closing 71 to share eighth place with Ian Poulter, Jerry Kelly and Andrew Magee at 338.
Phil Mickelson, winner here in 2002 and 2004, finished four shots off Leonard's pace.
