MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Latrell Sprewell sparked Minnesota to a huge third quarter Wednesday night as the Timberwolves ran away from Atlanta, 104-87.
Minnesota owned a two-point lead at intermission, but then outscored Atlanta in the third period, 37-12. Sprewell had 22 of his 32 points in the third.
Wally Szczerbiak added 18 points in helping Minnesota win its fourth straight.
Minnesota Coach Flip Saunders, suffering from a case of the flu, was not on the bench. Assistant Randy Whitman coached the team.
Al Harrington scored 17 for Atlanta, which has won just twice on the road this season.
