LA JOLLA, Calif., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods shot a 4-under-par 68 Sunday to win the Buick Invitational by three strokes

Woods, who hadn't won a stroke-play event since October 2003, wound up at 16-under-par 272 to earn $864,000 and his 41st PGA Tour title.

Tom Lehman missed a short par putt on the final hole and his closing 73 left him in a second-place tie with Charles Howell III (72) and Luke Donald (73) at 275.

Woods and Lehman were tied at 15-under going into the final two holes.

"That was a great win," said Woods. "It's a nice way to start out the year."

Fog delays the past few days forced Woods to play 32 holes on Sunday.

Germany's Bernhard Langer shot even-par 72 to finish fifth at 277.

Vijay Singh, No. 1 player in golf, had a 75 to tie for 24th.
