CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Luther Head and Dee Brown scored four points each in overtime Thursday night as No. 1 Illinois fought off Iowa, 73-68.
Head and Brown accounted for all of Illinois' overtime points, allowing the Illini to extend their unbeaten season to 19-0 and 5-0 in the Big Ten.
Head scored 25 points overall and Brown had 12. Brown made two free throws with five seconds left in the extra period to clinch the victory.
A field goal by Iowa's Greg Brunner with three seconds to play in regulation sent the game into overtime.
Pierre Pierce scored 22 points for Iowa (13-4, 1-3).
Illinois made 17 more free throws than did the Hawkeyes, but let a 12-point, second-half lead slip away.
