HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Josh Boone scored 20 points Saturday and No. 11 Connecticut used a quick second-half surge to pull away from Rutgers, 78-64.
Connecticut, which suffered a non-conference loss at Oklahoma last Monday, improved to 10-3 and to 2-1 in the Big East.

Charlie Villanueva and Rudy Gay both chipped in 14 points.
Rutgers (6-7, 0-3) was led by 16 from Marquis Webb. The Scarlet Knights have lost four in a row.
Connecticut had an 11-point halftime lead trimmed to six early in the second period, but the Huskies scored seven in a row to break the game open.
This was the first game for Connecticut since Coach Jim Calhoun signed a contract through the 2009-10 season.
