Wayne, Winfield, Brien win NFL honors

NEW YORK, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Indianapolis wide receiver Reggie Wayne won an NFL Player of the Week award for his 10-catch, two-touchdown performance in a 49-24 rout of Denver.

The award-winners for wild card weekend were announced Wednesday.

Wayne got the honor for top performance on offense. Others chosen were Minnesota cornerback Antoine Winfield (defense) and placekicker Doug Brien of the New York Jets (special teams).

Winfield made a key interception and 11 tackles in the Vikings' 31-17 victory at Green Bay.

Brien kicked a game-winning field goal in the Jets' 20-17 overtime victory over San Diego.

The award was the fifth for Brien. Wayne and Winfield each won for the first time.
