Moya wins 18th career title in Chennai

CHENNAI, India, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Carlos Moya of Spain beat second-seeded Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand in the final of the Chennai Open Sunday for the second straight year.

Moya won 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at the ATP season-opening tournament. Moya rebounded from a 5-2 deficit in the third set.

Moya earned $52,000 for the win and donated the money to relief efforts for the tsunami disaster in Asia.

Srichaphan was appearing in his fourth straight trip to the Chennai final. He was the runner-up in 2002 and won in 2003 before losing to Moya last January.
