NFL: Pittsburgh 29, Buffalo 24

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Jeff Reed kicked five field goals and James Harrison returned a fumble for a touchdown Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Buffalo Bills, 29-24.

The Steelers (15-1) finished the regular season on a franchise-record 14-game winning streak and eclipsed the club's best previous mark of 14-2 set in 1978. They will have home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs and will have a bye before hosting a divisional playoff game in two weeks.

Buffalo (9-7) entered the game on a six-game winning streak and needed a win plus some help to become just the second team in NFL history to reach the playoffs after an 0-4 start.

Willis McGahee scored his second touchdown of the game on a one-yard run to pull Buffalo within five with 1:18 remaining. The Steelers recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.
