NFL: San Francisco 31, Arizona 28 (OT)

TEMPE, Ariz., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Todd Peterson kicked a 31-yard field goal 6:22 into overtime Sunday to hand the San Francisco 49ers a 31-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Ken Dorsey, who replaced injured starter Tim Rattay, completed 18-of-34 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns for San Francisco (2-11), which blew a 25-point lead before snapping a seven-game losing streak.

Maurice Hicks led the 49ers ground attack with 139 yards on 34 carries, including a one-yard TD.

San Francisco's lone victory before this game was also a 31-28 overtime triumph against the Cardinals in Week 5.

Josh McCown was 26-of-44 for 307 yards and an interception for Arizona (4-9), which has dropped four in a row.

Emmitt Smith rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown and Obafemi Ayanbadejo had two short TD runs in the loss.
