Palmer honored for play in comeback win

NEW YORK, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer, who led a 24-point, fourth-quarter comeback against Baltimore, earned an NFL Player of the Week honor Wednesday.

Palmer was named on offense in the AFC and was joined by San Diego cornerback Drayton Florence on defense and Buffalo kick-returner Terrence McGee for special teams.

Their NFC counterparts are Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb, who threw five touchdown passes against Green Bay; Tampa Bay linebacker Derrick Brooks and placekicker John Kasay of Carolina, who booted six field goals against New Orleans.

Palmer helped the Bengals win for the fourth time in five games, passing for three touchdowns in the rally that beat the Ravens 27-26.

Brooks won his fifth Player of the Week Award. He led a Buccaneers defense that caused five Atlanta turnovers in a 27-0 shutout of the Falcons.

McGee had a 104-yard kickoff return in the Bills' 42-32 win over Miami, their fifth win in six games.
