PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Paul Peterson and Matt Ryan each threw touchdown passes Saturday as No. 19 Boston College turned back Temple 34-17.

L.V. Whitworth ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles (8-2, 4-1 Big East).

Boston College remains atop the standings in the Big East.

Temple dropped to 1-5, 2-9 with its season-ending setback, losing to the Eagles for a fifth straight time.

Walter Washington was 25-of-38 passing for the Owls. He had two touchdown passes and one interception.
