Rainy day leaves Busch on NASCAR pole

DARLINGTON, S.C., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Rain wiped out qualifying Friday for the Southern 500, leaving championship leader Kurt Busch on the pole for Sunday's race.

This will be the next-to-last race of the NASCAR season and Busch will take a 41-point lead over Jeff Gordon and a 47-point advantage over Dale Earnhardt, Jr. into the event.

Jimmie Johnson is also in the chase, 48 points behind.

Johnson has vaulted into contention by winning three of the last four races and finishing sixth in the other. He won on this track in March.
