COL BKB: Syracuse 56, Princeton 45

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Syracuse advanced to the semifinals of the season-opening Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Friday night with a 56-45 decision over Princeton.

Hakim Warrick scored 20 points to pace the sixth-ranked Orangemen and Demetris Nichols had 14. Syracuse will play in New York next Thursday against an opponent to be determined.

Princeton was led by Will Venable, who did not miss a field-goal attempt and scored 17 points.

The game was tied inside the 10-minute mark, but Syracuse went on a 7-1 run to take control Gerry McNamara capped the surge with a three-pointer with 6:08 remaining.
