MLS: DC United 4, New England 3

WASHINGTON, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- D.C. United advanced Saturday night to their first MLS Cup in five years as a kick shootout gave them a 4-3 win over the New England Revolution.

D.C. United clinched the Eastern Conference Championship after the teams played to a 3-3 tie over 120 minutes.

Goalkeeper Nick Rimando stopped the last kick from Clint Dempsey that put D.C. United into their fifth MLS Cup, against the Kansas City Wizards next Sunday (Nov. 14).

United took three leads and New England answer every one.
