Haas keeps Tour Championship lead

ATLANTA, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Jay Haas rolled in a downhill, 10-foot putt at the final hole Friday to shoot a 66 and take a two-shot lead at the Tour Championship.

With Tiger Woods making a charge and leading money winner Vijay Singh struggling, the 50-year-old Haas put himself in position to become the fifth-oldest winner in PGA Tour history.

Haas posted a 36-hole total of 7-under 133 at the East Lake Golf Club, two shots in front of Stephen Ames. Woods shared third place with Retief Goosen at 135.

Woods, playing for the first time since his marriage last month, shot a 64 -- the low round of the tournament. His day was highlighted by a birdie at the par-4 16th, where he lofted a shot from out of the trees to the back edge of the green and made the putt.

Singh, seeking his 10th victory of the season, bogeyed six holes and shot a 73, leaving him at 2-over 142.

Haas will turn 51 next month. The only players older than Haas to win a PGA Tour event have been Sam Snead, Art Wall, Jim Barnes and John Barnum.
