Boston parade celebrates World Series win

BOSTON, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Boston celebrated its World Series victory with a parade Saturday.

The Red Sox players wore new championship sweatshirts and displayed the series trophy for tens of thousands of fans along the parade route.

The parade ran along downtown streets and then by boat on the Charles River.

When the Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals this week, it was the first World Series title for Boston in 86 years.

"This victory is simply spectacular," Mayor Thomas Merino said.
