COL FB: LSU 24, Troy 20

BATON ROUGE, La., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The Louisiana State Tigers pulled out a 24-20 victory over the Troy Trojans at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., Saturday.

Marcus Randall threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to David Jones with 2:18 left to play to give the Tigers the win.

DeWhitt Betterson rushed for 49 yards and scored a touchdown for the Trojans, who lost for the fourth time in five tries winning over Marshall and Missouri to start the year.

LSU outgained the Trojans by a 386-150 margin in net yards and had a decisive 22-9 advantage in first downs, but Tiger turnovers, including three interceptions by Randall, led to 17 points for Troy and a near- upset.

Quarterback D.T. McDowell was called for a 15-yard intentional grounding penalty and was shaken up after being sacked by Kyle Williams, while fill-in Aaron Leak ran for 11 yards on the following play, but then misfired to turn the ball over.
