NFL: Washington 13, Chicago 10

CHICAGO, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Clinton Portis rushed for 171 yards on 36 caries Sunday and Washington held on to down Chicago, 13-10.

The Redskins, who improved to 2-4 and snapped a four-game skid, struggled on offense throughout the game. Mark Brunell completed just eight of 22 passes for 95 yards.

Washington's lone touchdown came on an 18-yard throw from Brunell to Rod Gardner that made it 10-0 in the second period.

The Bears, equally anemic on offense, got 88 yards rushing from Thomas Jones. Quarterback Jonathan Quinn was 10 of 22 for 68 yards with an interception.

Ola Kimrin, subbing for injured kicker John Hall, delivered two field goals for Washington.

Defensive back Jerry Azumah scored the Bears' only touchdown, returning an interception 70 yards for a score late in the first half.

Chicago is 1-4 with a three-game losing streak.
