TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Super Bowl XXXVII MVP Dexter Jackson, who has been on injured reserve since early September, has been released by the Arizona Cardinals.
Jackson, 27, a five-year veteran free safety suffered a back injury. He was released without an injury settlement.
The 6-1, 203-pound Jackson was ranked ranked first in the NFL two seasons ago in pass defense and played all 16 games for Arizona last season. He has been on the injured list since training camp.
Jackson was selected by Tampa in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL draft after spending two years as a starter for Florida State.
