Among the seven games that were to have been played Wednesday night was an Eastern Conference finals rematch between Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.

Lightning fans, therefore, were unable to see their team raise its Stanley Cup banner.

A number of NHL players have traveled to Europe to take part in various leagues.

Chris Chelios, who became a free agent after last season, has said he is going to train with the United States Bobsled Federation in hopes of earning a spot on the 2006 Olympic team.

Philadelphia Coach Ken Hitchcock, meanwhile, is coaching in the Central Hockey League. He is assisting during training camp with teams headquartered in Texas and New Mexico.
