Rivera goes home after 2 relatives killed

PANAMA CITY, Panama, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera returned to Panama following the deaths of two relatives in an accident at his home, La Prensa reported Monday.

A cousin of Rivera's wife, Victor Dario Avila, 35, was killed at Rivera's Puerto Caimito home while trying to save his 14-year-old son, also name Victor, who was electrocuted while cleaning the pool Saturday.

Yankees Manager Joe Torre said he didn't know if Rivera would be available for Tuesday's opening game of the American League Championship Series against Boston.
