SPRING, Texas, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Larry Nelson shot an 8-under 64 Sunday and birdied the first playoff hole to beat Hale Irwin and win the inaugural senior Adminstaff Small Business Classic.
Nelson was joined after 54 holes at 14-under-par 202 by Irwin, who had a 67 in Sunday's third and final round.
Nelson and Irwin returned to the par-five 18th tee for the extra session. Irwin, the all-time wins leader of the Champions Tour, knocked his second shot to the front edge of green.
Nelson, who won the FedEx Kinko's Classic earlier this year, came out of a bunker to five feet. Irwin's eagle try came up short and so did his birdie putt.
Nelson made his birdie try for win No. 2 this season and No. 19 of his career.
Peter Jacobsen, who won the U.S. Senior Open earlier in the season, shared third place with Wayne Levi at 13-under 203.
