ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Stephen Gallacher won his first European Tour event Sunday, beating Graeme McDowell in a playoff for the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
After the two players finished regulation at 19-under-par 269, Gallacher, of Scotland, birdied the first playoff hole for the victory.

"It's a dream come true," Gallacher said. "To win my first title here at St Andrews is fantastic."
Gallacher shot a 67 in the final round. McDowell had 68.
Ian Poulter and Luke Donald, who led after the third round, tied for third place at 18-under 270.
