WNBA: Connecticut 68, Seattle 64

UNCASVILLE, Conn., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Katie Douglas scored 18 points Friday night as Connecticut downed Seattle, 68-64, in the opening game of the WNBA Finals.

Wendy Palmer added 16 with seven rebounds in what was the first Finals appearance for both teams.

The series moves to Seattle for Game 2 Sunday night and a third game, if needed, will also be played in Seattle.

Lindsay Whalen chipped in 11 points for Connecticut and had nine assists.

Seattle was led by a 17-point performance from Betty Lennox. Lauren Jackson added 16.
