MLB: Atlanta 4, Houston 2 (11 inn.)

ATLANTA, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Rafael Furcal hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning Thursday night, allowing Atlanta to even its NL Division Series with a 4-2 win over Houston.

Furcal, playing in the series only because of a favorable ruling by a state judge, hit a 1-2 pitch from Dan Miceli into the seats in right. The best-of-five series, tied at 1-1, will resume Saturday in Houston -- where the Astros have won 18 consecutive games.

Furcal, already on probation for a DWI violation, was charged with a second offense last month. A judge ruled Wednesday Furcal could play in the series only if he returned to his home or hotel room immediately after each game. Furcal will serve 21 days in jail after the playoffs.

He went three for five with three RBI Thursday while Adam LaRoche had three hits and doubled home the tying run in the eighth.

Antonio Alfonseca (1-0) worked the top of the 11th to get the win after three innings of shutout relief by John Smoltz.

Jeff Bagwell and Raul Chavez gave the Astros a 2-0 lead with solo homers.
