NASHVILLE, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair remained in a Nashville hospital Monday with a bruised sternum but no serious injuries.
McNair was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against Jacksonville and taken to a hospital. He is expected to be released Tuesday.
McNair was hurt on a scramble during Tennessee's go-ahead touchdown drive, but was able to remain in the contest as the Titans took a 12-7 lead that wouldn't last in a 15-12 loss.
McNair, last year's co-MVP, was hit while running for a first down that set up Chris Brown's 26-yard touchdown run with 5:37 remaining. McNair missed an open receiver with the two-point conversion pass and took off his shoulder pads on the bench.
McNair had trouble taking deep breaths after the contest.
