MLB: Boston 11, NY Yankees 4

BOSTON, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Curt Schilling pitched seven innings of one-hit ball Sunday and the Boston Red Sox scored four first-inning runs in an 11-4 win over the NY Yankees.

Yankee righthander Kevin Brown (10-5), making his first start since breaking his left hand after punching a wall on Sept. 3, got only two outs and was charged with four runs on six hits.

Mark Bellhorn went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, while David Ortiz added two runs batted in with three runs scored in the victory.

The Red Sox captured the final two games of the series and crept within 3 1/2 games of the first-place Yankees in the AL East.

New York still has a magic number of four to clinch the division title. The Yankees will play three games at home against AL Central champion Minnesota before visiting Toronto for three games to close the season next weekend.
