Barrichello wins Grand Prix of China

SHANGHAI, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello won Sunday's Grand Prix of China Formula One race, finishing 1.035 seconds ahead of runner-up Jenson Button.

The victory was Barrichello's second of the season and ninth of his F1 career.

The Brazilian, who sat on the pole, led almost from start to finish, but was pressured throughout. In particular, BAR's Button and McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen stayed right with the number two Ferrari driver.

Just as seven-time champion Michael Schumacher has always managed to do, Barrichello found the speed to open the gap to 28.8 second lead before heading down pit lane. He came back on the track with a six-second margin and the race was over.

Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Juan Montoya, Takuma Sato, Giancarlo Fisichella and Felipe Massa completed the points-scoring positions.

Michael Schumacher spun out in qualifying and started at the back of the field. He suffered a tire puncture and finished 12th.
