DENVER, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Jeromy Burnitz drove in Todd Helton with a single in the 10th inning Thursday night, giving Colorado a 2-1 win over Arizona and a doubleheader sweep.
Colorado won the opener, 7-1, on a strong six-inning effort by Jeff Francis.
Allan Simpson (2-1) gained the victory in the second game by pitching one shutout inning. Clint Barmes had three hits for the Rockies.
Helton doubled down the line in right to get the 10th inning going, after which Vinny Castilla was intentionally walked. That brought up Burnitz, who lofted a looping fly ball to left-center.
The ball fell in and Helton scored easily.
Colorado won the season series, 13-6. It is the first time the Rockies have taken a season series fro Arizona in five years.
