AUBURN, Calif., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Christina Kim fired a 7-under 64 Thursday to lead Rachel Teske by one shot after the opening round of the Longs Drugs Challenge.
Juli Inkster, a two-time champion of the event, was two shots back along with Michelle Estill, Miriam Nagl and Beth Bauer.
Kim, born and raised in nearby San Jose, birdied three of the final four holes.
"I'm going to have an entourage tomorrow," Kim said. "There's no way to describe it. I'm two hours from home, it's so awesome."
Kim, still looking for her first win on the LPGA Tour, recently finished second to Cristie Kerr at the State Farm Classic.
