Vick, James among NFL players of week

NEW YORK, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick, who led the Falcons to victory with his passing and running, and five others were named NFL players of the week Wednesday.

Vick was chosen as top offensive player in the NFC. He passed for 179 yards and a touchdown and ran for 109 yards against St. Louis. It was the third 100-yard rushing game of his career.

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was named top NFC defensive player after making 14 tackles and forcing a fumble against Green Bay, and Seattle punter Tom Rouen was named Special Teams Player of the Week. Rouen averaged 47.5 yards in 10 punts against Tampa Bay.

In the AFC, the offensive, defensive and special teams honors went to running back Edgerrin James of Indianapolis, safety Rodney Harrison of New England and Oakland punter Shane Lechler.

James ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns against Tennessee; Harrison made seven tackles, two sacks and forced a fumble against Arizona, and Lechler averaged 49.8 yards on five punts against Buffalo.
