SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- The NBA's Utah Jazz announced Tuesday they will officially retire John Stockton's No. 12 in a ceremony in November.
Stockton, one of the league's all-time top guards, retired after the 2002-03 season.
"We are excited to honor John in this special way," Jazz owner Larry H. Miller said. "After spending his entire 19-year career with the franchise, John's incredible athleticism deserves to be memorialized."
Stockton will be honored Nov. 22 during a game between the Jazz and New Orleans Hornets.
Stockton is the NBA's all-time leader in assists (15,806) and steals (3,265).
His number will be the sixth retired by the Jazz. The others are 1-Frank Layden, 7-Pete Maravich, 14-Jeff Hornacek, 35-Darrell Griffith and 53-Mark Eaton.
