MLB: Baltimore 9, Boston 6

BOSTON, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- B.J. Surhoff hit a grand slam during a five-run inning Monday as the Baltimore Orioles posted a 9-6 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

Javy Lopez drove in a pair of runs and scored once for the Orioles, who have won four of their last five games. Melvin Mora homered and scored three runs for Baltimore.

Jason Grimsley (5-6) threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win, while Jorge Julio retired the Red Sox in order in the ninth for his 22nd save.

David Ortiz hit a two-run homer and Manny Ramirez drove in a pair of runs with a double for the Red Sox, who have lost three straight. Gabe Kapler scored twice for Boston, which entered the day with a 5 1/2 game lead in the American League wild card race.
