Dean Wilson leads Texas Open

SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Dean Wilson shot a 5-under 65 Friday to take the lead after two rounds of the Texas Open.

Wilson finished 36 holes at 11-under 129, a shot in front of first-round leader Ted Purdy.

"I'm hitting the ball a little better so I'm giving myself a lot of chances," said Wilson, who is 150th on the PGA Tour money list. "I haven't been doing that all year."

Purdy, who matched the course record with a 61 on Thursday, shot a 69 Friday. J.J. Henry, David Peoples, John Senden and Ryan Palmer shared third at 131.

The 36-hole cut fell at 2-under-par 138 with 79 players qualifying for the weekend. Among those who failed to make it were Rich Beem and Jose Maria Olazabal.
