BEIJING, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- French qualifier Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knocked top-seeded Carlos Moya out of the China Open Wednesday.
Tsonga, 19, competing in his first ATP match, scored a 6-3 6-3 first-round win over the Spaniard, who at one time was ranked No. 1 in the world.

Rain halted play at the Beijing Tennis Administration Centre for the second straight day, forcing suspension or postponement of some matches.
Juan Carlos Ferrero, the No. 2 seed, was among other players advancing before the rain came. Ferrero beat American Justin Gimelstob 6-4, 6-4.
Other winners included sixth-seeded Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand, No. 8 Dominik
Hrbaty of Slovakia and Mikhail Youzhny of Russia.
