EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Vikings signed veteran defensive backs Terrance Shaw and Ralph Brown on Tuesday.
The Vikings lost backup cornerback Ken Irvin before Sunday's 35-17 season-opening win over Dallas. Irvin ruptured his right Achilles' tendon in pregame warmups and was placed on injured reserve.
Brown, a fifth-year pro, played in 11 games and started seven in 2003 with New York Giants. He spent the 2004 preseason with the Washington Redskins before he was cut.
Shaw has started 87 of 125 games during his nine-year career. He started eight of 16 games for Oakland in 2003, posting 70 tackles in 15 games. He was released by Carolina this preseason.
