ALLEN PARK, Mich., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Detroit Lions wide receiver Charles Rogers learned Tuesday he will miss the remainder of the 2004 season with a broken collarbone.
Rogers, who was also sidelined for the final 11 games of last season with a broken collarbone, went down in the first quarter of Sunday's win over Chicago. X-rays revealed a fracture near the one he sustained last year during a bye-week practice in October.
The second overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, Rogers was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and is scheduled to undergo surgery later this week.
Rogers had 22 receptions for 243 yards and three touchdowns in five games as a rookie. He won the 2002 Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver in college football during his junior season at Michigan State.
The Lions also learned Tuesday that All-Pro defensive back Dre' Bly will miss the next two to three games with a sprained a ligament in his left knee.
