MLB: Chicago White Sox 7, Texas 4

ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Carl Everett homered and scored two runs Monday to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 7-4 victory over the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers committed five errors.

Jason Grilli (1-1) worked in 5 2/3 innings to earn his first major league victory in more than three years. Grilli's last win was with Florida on April 20, 2001. He gave up three runs on eight hits and three walks.

The Rangers are 7 1/2 games behind idle Boston for the wild card lead after dropping seven of their last eight games.

David Dellucci, Michael Young and Kevin Mench all homered for Texas.

Chicago turned a one-run lead into a four-run cushion by scoring three times in the top of the seventh.

Chan Ho Park (3-5) took the loss, giving up seven runs -- five earned -- on seven hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings.
