MLB: Toronto 13, Oakland 5

TORONTO, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Gabe Gross hit his first career grand slam and Russ Adams added his first career homer in a six-run fifth inning Sunday as Toronto beat Oakland, 13-5.

Carlos Delgado had a two-run homer and Eric Hinske added an RBI single for Toronto.

Ryan Glynn (1-0), who was making a spot start in place of the injured Josh Towers, pitched the first five innings, allowing two runs on four hits to earn the win in his first major league appearance since 2001.

Bobby Crosby and Nick Swisher each hit two-run homers for the Athletics, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.

Rich Harden (9-6) had a six-game win streak halted. He lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits in his first loss since June 21. Oakland lost for just the third time in its last 19 games.
