NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Star New Orleans Hornets guard Baron Davis has been advised by his agent to explore options that could include a trade, it was reported Friday.
The agent, Todd Ramasar told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that while a trade was an option no such demand had been made.
Ramasar said his recommendation was made because the Hornets are faced with the possibility of struggling to be a playoff contender in the NBA's Western Conference next season.
"It's tough for me to comment, but I trust my agent," Davis said in a statement released to the newspaper by his publicist. "He has my interest at heart. And I'm prepared for anything at this point."
Davis, considered one of the league's best point guards, is a two-time all-star.
Last season, he took to scoring more, and averaged 22.9 points per game along with 7.5 assists.
He was a first-round pick by the Charlotte Hornets in 1999.
